What is "Owara Kaze no Bon"?
- In Yatsuo Town, the "Eve Festival" is held from August 20th to August 31st every year, and the "Main Festival of the Wind Bon Festival" is held from September 1st to September 3rd.
The Owara Kaze no Bon, known nationwide for its Owara Bushi and Owara Dance, will be held.
Yatsuo Town's nationally famous folk song "Owara Kaze no Bon" has a history of 350 years.
The graceful, elegant, lyrical and poetic song and dance are united with the mournful melodies of the kokyu and shamisen.
This festival takes place amongst streets lit by lanterns.
【The origin of "Owara" and the Wind Festival】
- The origin of the festival is unclear even after examining ancient documents,
According to oral tradition, it began about 300 years ago, when villagers danced for three days and nights to receive the "Kaga Domain's seal of approval."
Nowadays, the festival is known as the "210th day festival to ward off typhoons and pray for a bountiful harvest," and it attracts many spectators from inside and outside the prefecture.
The main Kaze no Bon festival is held on September 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and attracts between 10 and 120,000 tourists (although estimates say between 20 and 250,000).
Owara Kaze no Bon (September 1st to 3rd) -
On the day of the Kaze no Bon Festival, a special stage was set up on the grounds of an elementary school in Yatsuo Town.
Exclusively for tourists, each branch takes turns to hold an Owara competition from 7:00pm to 10:00am the following morning.
It is crowded with many tourists from all over the country on bus tours.
In addition, for those staying at accommodation facilities in Toyama Prefecture and near Yatsuo Town,
You will need to use JR, shuttle bus, taxi, etc.
On the day of the Bon Festival, most tourists start their day with a bus tour at 10 p.m.
You will return home around midnight (the last JR train).
The real "Owara Nagashi" started after that,
The authentic Yatsuo Owara Kaze no Bon Festival floats are held in each town and branch from midnight to 1:00 am.
Then, Owara Kaze no Bon Nagashi dance continues until dawn.
- Kaze no Bon Festival Eve (August 20th to August 31st) -
In the Yatsuo town of Owara, each town takes turns to hold the "Owara Kaze no Bon Festival Eve Festival."
We are holding an Owara Owaracho parade.
It is also very popular because you can sometimes see scenes of Owara practice in various towns.
On August 31st, from midnight through to September 1st, local town parades will take place.
It's very fantastical.
During the pre-festival period, we will guide you to Owaramachi Station, which is directly managed by our hotel and located in the center of the old town of Yatsuo, from 7:30 pm.
It is very convenient, as it is only a 5-minute walk from "Owaramachi Station" to each of the pre-festival venues.

・A shuttle bus is available from our hotel to JR Etchuyatsuo Station at any time.
・The competition will be held from 17:00 to 23:00 on the 1st and 2nd, and from 19:00 to 23:00 on the 3rd.From midnight, each neighborhood holds its own float parade through the town until dawn.
The night stroll around town is wonderful and highly recommended.(This is not guaranteed to happen.)
・The old town of Owara in Yatsuo is a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
・A passenger car runs from the hotel to the nearest town, Nishishinmachi entrance (Takakumabashi), from the evening until 3:00 AM the following morning.

If you are coming by car on the day, you will need a permit.Please let us know your vehicle number by fax or email by the end of July.
The permit will be mailed to you around August 25th, but if you do not receive it, please contact us immediately.

Please note that during the Bon Festival period (September 1st to September 3rd), special cancellation fees will be charged as follows:
・From reservation date to 32 days before the stay:20% of room rate
・31 to 10 days before:50% of room rate
・9 days before to the day:100% of room rate
