【Official】Rainbow Forest

A moment in harmony with nature, right here and now

This is within Iriomote Ishigaki National Park, in the middle of a jungle with a flowing river, where people live as part of nature.

The grounds are home to a forest of large loquats and hanging flowers, and in the fields, vegetables and fruits grow, allowing people to come into contact with the soil, water, and fire.
The birds chirp and the forest sings. The sounds of trees, water, insects, and various other natural sounds echo throughout the room.

People living in accordance with the mechanisms of life enrich the place.
Enjoy a special, comfortable time away from everyday life in a place that incorporates a system known as "Permaculture," which is in harmony with nature.

Facility Overview

  • Living in harmony with people and nature

In order for people to return to being "residents of the Earth" in the true sense of the word, they must aim for harmony with nature, face their families, face trees, flowers, animals, plants, and fungi, and live in harmony and support of one another.
Aiming to create such a place, we carefully practice living in accordance with the mechanisms of life.

Facility Information

  • Biogeofilter

A biogeofilter is a system that filters wastewater.
Legally, the water is discharged directly from the septic tank as wastewater, but the wastewater is so rich in nutrients that the fish cannot survive.
Therefore, drainage channels are prepared, porous stones are laid in the channels as a filter material, and plants that require a lot of nutrients are grown on top of them.
The water quality then returns to stream level.
And good water quality fosters biodiversity, making the land richer than before.
  • FARM&GARDEN

Creating soil using the power of microorganisms.
Waste disappears to create soil, the soil grows crops, and then returns to the body.
We will set up a compost frame and a compost shed (planned construction) and put dead leaves, dead grass, food waste, etc. in it.
  • OTHER NATURES

As the area is adjacent to a river that flows through the jungle, you can encounter a variety of natural scenes throughout the seasons.
In spring, you can see the Yaeyama fireflies, and in early summer, you can see the hanging flowers.
Migratory birds come to the island, and there are rivers, waterfalls, mangroves and the sea.
And on a clear night, you might even be able to see a starry sky.
