    • Yufuin Hot Springs

      Yufuin Onsen is a hot spring resort located in the Yufuin Basin, which is almost in the center of Oita Prefecture.
      It consists of various hot springs such as Takemoto, Ishimatsu, Hachiyama, and Otomaru.
      Together with Yunohira Onsen, it has been designated as a national hot spring resort under the name "Yufuin Onsen."
      Oita Onsen Prefecture has the largest number of hot springs and hot springs in Japan.
      Yufuin Onsen is said to be the second largest in Japan with approximately 900 hot springs.
      It boasts the third largest spring discharge in Japan at 38,600 liters per minute.

      Wild Japanese macaques have lived on Mount Takasaki since the Sengoku period.
      Takasakiyama Natural Zoo opened in 1945 as a facility to publicly display the lives of monkeys.
      By the way, Takasakiyama is designated as a national natural monument as a "habitat for monkeys."
      The Japanese macaques at Takasakiyama have been fed from the beginning, and the number of monkeys in the park has gradually increased.
      As of 2018, a total of over 1,200 monkeys live at Takasakiyama Natural Zoo.
