    • Shinanomachi

      Located on the border between Nagano and Niigata prefectures, this town is rich in nature and overlooks the five mountains of Hokushin (Kurohime, Iizuna, Myoko, Togakushi, and Madarao).
      It is known as the first town in Japan to conduct scientific research into the medical effects of forest environments, and effects such as stress reduction and immune improvement have been confirmed.
      In addition to being able to enjoy winter and water sports, the area also offers a variety of attractions, including flower fields and historical and cultural attractions.
      Corn Road, lined with shops selling the area's famous sweet corn, is a summer tradition.

      Sogensai Festival, which heralds the arrival of spring at the foot of Mt. Myoko, is an event to express gratitude for the blessings of the mountains.
      The climax of the festival is marked by the local people joining forces to create the fire character "grass" on the plateau where the melting snow wind blows through.

    • Zenkoji Temple(Zenkoji)

      As an ancient temple representing Nagano Prefecture and one of the leading "temples that anyone can visit" in Japan, it is a special place with a history of nearly 1,400 years.
      The overwhelming presence of the national treasure, Zenkoji Temple Main Hall.
      The main hall, which was rebuilt in 1707, is one of the largest wooden buildings in Japan, with a unique structure called "shumoku-zukuri," and is truly majestic both inside and out.
      It is a center of faith that people are said to visit at least once in their lifetime, and because Zenkoji Temple does not belong to any sect, it is known nationwide as a temple that anyone can visit in the hope of attaining rebirth in paradise.

      The "Okaidan Meguri" tour, which takes place in complete darkness, is a popular experience in which you grope your way through the pitch-black passage below the main hall, and if you touch the "Lock of Paradise," it is said that you will be connected to the principal image of Buddha.
      The grand unveiling ceremony, held once every seven years, is a public event in which the Zenritsu Honzon, an incarnation of the principal image of the temple, which is kept absolutely secret, is unveiled to the public.
    • Takada Castle Ruins

      This park was developed on the site of Takada Castle, which was built as the residence of Matsudaira Tadateru, the sixth son of Tokugawa Ieyasu.
      It is a historic site designated by Niigata Prefecture.
      There are about 4,000 cherry trees in the park and surrounding area, and the highlight is the night cherry blossoms, with the triple tower and cherry blossoms lit up by lanterns.
      It is considered one of the three best night cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan, and the Takada Castle Ruins Park Cherry Blossom Viewing Event is held here.
      The huge lotus colonies that fill the 19 hectares of the outer moat are said to be the largest in the Orient.
      The best time to see the flowers is from late July to mid-August.
