  • Cave Tarai Somen Noodles

At the end of the Pacific War, the former Imperial Navy excavated approximately 20 caves on the grounds of Hotel & Spa Hanamizuki and its surrounding areas to build an underground factory.
The war ended while construction was in progress, and the facility was temporarily used as a storage facility for battleship and submarine parts, ammunition, and other items.
The cave is 26 meters long, and thanks to the natural cool air, the temperature is a pleasant 17 to 20 degrees Celsius even in midsummer.
One of these caves is used as a restaurant called "Cave Tarai Somen Noodles" during the summer.
Shimabara's high-quality hand-pulled somen noodles are served with 9 types of carefully selected condiments.
