Lake Kawaguchi Kawaguchiko is located in central Honshu, near Mount Fuji.
One of the Five Lakes of Fuji, this lake belongs to the Sagami River water system.
It is designated as part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
It has the longest shoreline among Fuji Five Lakes and is located at the lowest elevation point.
Its area is the second largest among Fuji Five Lakes.
The maximum depth is 14.6m, almost the same as Lake Shoji.

Kawaguchi Asama Shrine was established in Jōgan 7 (865 CE) by imperial decree to appease the eruption of Mount Fuji.
That is the origin of the shrine.Currently, Mount Fuji is registered as one of the assets that make up the "Mt Fuji World Heritage Site, " both as an object of worship and a source of artistic inspiration.Please come and experience a profound spiritual connection at Kawaguchi Asama Shrine, where countless ancient trees celebrate the passage of time.

The shrine's origins date back to 110 AD, when Yamato Takeru-no-mikoto stopped at Otsukaoka and worshipped the spirit of Fuji. Following his words, Asama no Okami and Yamato Takeru-no-mikoto were enshrined there.Following a volcanic eruption in 781, Yamato Takeru was enshrined at Otsuka Hill by Ki no Toyoniwa no Ason in 788, while Asama Okami was enshrined in the present shrine building.The oldest existing shrine buildings were rebuilt in 1561 by Shingen Takeda, and both Togu Main Hall and Nishinomiya Main Hall are Nationally Designated Important Cultural Properties.Most of the existing temple grounds were created by Kosei Murakami.Fire-Quelling Ceremony, one of Three Unique Festivals in Japan, is held every August and is Nationally Designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Kaizansai (mountain opening festival) in June is also famous.

Oishi Park, where Kawaguchiko Shizen Seikatsu-kan (Natural Living Center) is located, is a park facing the lake in the Oishi District on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi.
Along with Yagisaki Park on the south shore, it is known as a lavender park and serves as the main venue for Lake Kawaguchi Half Festival.
Lavender begins to bloom in late June and can be enjoyed until mid-July.The view of the lake and Mt Fuji beyond the lavender fields is unique to Oishi Park.
It has become famous as a scenic spot for Mount Fuji, and photographers seeking to capture "Mt Fuji and Flowers" visit almost every day.

Fuji Subaru Line 5th Station, the gateway to Mt Fuji from the Yamanashi Prefecture side, is a tourist spot that can be enjoyed not only by those climbing Mt Fuji, but also by those simply stopping by during a drive.Located at an altitude of approximately 2,300 meters, it offers breathtaking views of Fuji Five Lakes below, and sometimes even a mystical sea of clouds.Also, Fujisan Gourmet available at restaurants are extremely popular! According to this sign, it looks like we'll reach Shinsekai Kanpai Street if we go about 20 meters from here.If you look closely at both ends of the sign, it appears that there are six shops on Shinsekai Kanpai Street.There is also the word "comingsoon" so I wonder if a new store will be opening there soon.The townscape has a retro feel, so this pop sign was unexpected.

Lake Kawaguchi - Mt Fuji Panoramic Ropeway is the setting for Osamu Dazai's masterpiece, "Kachikachi Yama."In keeping with the story, raccoon and rabbit dolls are displayed on top of the ropeway gondola and here and there on the observation deck to welcome guests.
