【Bathing Methods and Precautions】
- When starting hot spring therapy, limit bathing to about once a day for the first few days.
Thereafter, limit to 2 or 3 times per day.
The appropriate period for hot spring therapy is approximately two to three weeks.
After the hot spring therapy period, bath shock (bath reaction) may occur approximately 3 days to 1 week later.
During the period when you are suffering from "hot water poisoning," reduce the number of times you bathe or stop bathing altogether and wait for the symptoms to subside.
In addition to the above, please be aware of the following points when bathing.
1. Bath time varies depending on the bath temperature, but should start out as 3 to 10 minutes, and can be extended as the patient becomes accustomed to the bath.
2. In general, you should stay still while bathing, except in the case of exercise baths.
3. After bathing, do not wash off the hot spring components that have adhered to your body with water.
(On the other hand, people who are prone to hot spring blisters should wash their bodies with fresh water after bathing or wipe off the hot spring ingredients.)
4. After bathing, be careful not to get cold after taking a bath and rest for a certain period of time.
5. As a general rule, high temperature baths (42°C or above) are contraindicated for those with the following diseases:
・Severe arteriosclerosis
・Hypertension
・Heart disease
6. Be careful when suddenly entering a hot spring as it can cause dizziness.
7. It is advisable to avoid bathing immediately before or after a meal.
8. Be especially careful when bathing after eating or drinking.
