  • The myth Mihonoseki

The land of Izumo appears many times in Japan's grand and generous mythology.
Yes, this is the very beginning of the world.
Why not come and meet the "Yaoyorozu Gods," who are surprisingly human and charming?
    • Morote-fune Shinto Ritual(December 3)

The story of the country puller

The beginning of the world, the age of the Yaorozu Gods...
There was a giant god in Izumo.
The giant thought, "The land of Izumo, where Yakumo stands, is a small, young, and incomplete country."
The "leftovers of the country" we found on the Noto Peninsula,
They pulled him with a rope shouting "Kuniko, Kuniko, Kuniko."
And then it was sewn together. "Mihonoseki"
It is said that the rope used at that time is now Yumigahama Beach, and the stakes were made by Mt. Oyama.
It is also a magnificent story.
    • Aoshibagaki Ceremony(April 7)

A story inherited from the country

The deity enshrined at Miho Shrine is Kotoshironushi no Mikoto, affectionately known as Ebisu.
He is the eldest son of Izumo Oyashiro (Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine).
To Okuninushi-no-Mikoto, who once ruled Izumo Province,
Takemikazuchi-no-Mikoto descended as a messenger of Amaterasu Omikami and negotiated the transfer of the country.
Okuninushi-no-Mikoto quickly sent a messenger to Mihonoseki -no-Mikoto at Mihonoseki,
After discussing it, Kotoshironushi no Mikoto replied, "Give it over."
Then they built a fence of sakaki leaves into the sea and hid themselves there.
And the transfer of power was carried out smoothly.
The Morote-fune and Aoshibagaki rituals are based on this story.
The two festivals held at Miho Shrine recreate the scenes from that time and continue to this day.
