Special healing baths

The History of Hijiori Onsen

Hijiori Onsen boasts a history of approximately 1,200 years.
It is said that the name comes from the fact that an old monk who fell off a cliff soaked in the hot springs and his wounds were healed.
During Edo Period, it was apparently a very popular destination for pilgrims visiting Three Mountains of Dewa mountains, offering lodging and hot spring therapy.
Even after that, it has continued to hold a special appeal in Yamagata as a hot spring located in the mountains.

Hot Spring Details

One of the characteristics of the hot spring at this facility is that it contains 225.9 mg of metasilicic acid.
Metasilicic acid is said to have a strong healing and relaxing effect.
Compared to the average value of hot springs, which is around 50 mg, this effect is extremely high.
The hot spring water is light green in color.

    The private bath "Nagomi-no-yu," completed in 2008, is a bright bathroom filled with natural light.
    Enjoy the faint scent of hinoki cypress and the bubbling hot spring water all to yourself.
    Not only the bathtub, but also the dressing room and bathroom are handmade by craftsmen.
